NDMC Smart City
New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) is the council which govern the national capital Delhi. And the area which is covered by this authority is called NDMC area. NDMC covers huge area of 43.7 Km and is headed by the chairperson who is been appointed by the Central Government and Chief Minister of Delhi. NDMC is responsible for building better infrastructure of the city and maintain other necessary services required for livelihood. In order to maintain the services provided by NDMC, the city of Delhi is looked after by the following bodies which are Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment Board.Each of these authorities have pre-decided roles and responsibilities which are needed to be completely as per the set deadline.
New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) is introducing Smart Grid Project to fulfil the power requirements of people. This project of rupees 500 Crore is going to emphasis on reducing losses through better power distribution. Installation of smart power grids will also keep a bird’s watch on thefts in transmission.The first phase of work under this project includes renovation of old cables and transformers. Renovation work will incur huge amount of money but will prove beneficial in long term in future.
Karol Bagh is the area which falls under New Delhi constituency in Delhi Legislative Assembly. This place consists of both residential as well as commercial place. Karol Bagh is world famous shopping place and people come here from far off places for shopping purpose. Earlier, there was a time when people only use to visit Karol Bagh for shopping as the place offers good variety in clothes, jewellery, footwear and other things. Karol Bagh is also well known for its shopping streets like Ghaffar market, Ajmal Khan Road and Arya Samaj road. Karol Bagh was a Lok Sabha constituency till the year 2008 but was abolished later and now comes under the New Delhi constituency. Karol Bagh is located at the mere distance of 20 Kilometres from IGI Airport and also holds a metro station.
Apart from being the most popular marketplace of the city, Karol Bagh also home to education institutions like historic Ayurvedic & unani Tibbai collage which was inaugurated by father of nation Mahatma Gandhi in 1921. Delhi University’s Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College is also situated in its vincity. People specially from West and Central Delhi go to shop here. Karol Bagh which used to have a traditional old type of market now has become modern. In recent past, the place became business establishments for various companies like TGIF, Reebok, Sketchers, Puma, Pizza Hut, and Lacoste.
